  • Measure 2 will not take away fire funds

I would like to respond to Benjamin Wiley’s April 5 letter to the editor.

I would like to respond to Benjamin Wiley’s April 5 letter to the editor. I would like to thank him for serving on the Kindred Fire Department. Volunteers like him make this state great.

I do have to correct him, though. Measure 2 does not take away funds to run his fire department. The measure clearly states that funds will be replaced by other tax money that the state collects. It is a constitutional amendment. All fire departments, townships, schools and all other entities will be fully funded.

I serve on a township board and a school board, and I am not worried about funding. The only thing I’m worried about is the lies that have been going around about this measure. Please read the measure. This measure will work.
